Trump has put a bounty on Maduro. This, like the International Court and city councils' international outrage, is a great example of a particularly silly authoritarianism, judicial action without laws. If Trump is serious about this moral crusade, he should bring it against the truly evil and influential in life and arrest Putin when he comes for his symbolic encounter in Alaska.
There is another word for declaring people subject to laws they did not consent to: war.

US response to Sputnik was fierce competition. Following Sputnik, we increased funding for education, especially math, science and foreign languages, organizations like ARPA were spun up, federal funding for R&D was increased, immigration rules were loosened, foreign talent was attracted and tariff barriers continued to fall. In contrast, the response to what I called the “DeepSeek” moment has been nearly the opposite. Why did Sputnik spark investment while DeepSeek sparks retrenchment?--Tabarrok

Sunday/Responsibility of the Knowing
A long gospel today, diffuse and demanding. The clear message is that life is unpredictable and often whimsical. People should always be prepared for judgment, as it can come at any moment.
Fair enough.
Then Peter asks who these laws apply to. What sounds like a question about the exclusivity of the Jews and salvation is turned by Christ into a question of the responsibilities of people who know the truth and those who do not. Your origin and tribe are not as important as what you know and believe.
"Much will be required of the person entrusted with much,
and still more will be demanded of the person entrusted with more."
Judgment is not just universal; it is weighted. That may be something most thoughtful people will not want to hear.
