His Holiness tweeted: “#socialjustice demands that we fight against the causes of poverty: inequality and the lack of labour, land, and lodging . . .and against the culture that leads to taking away the dignity of others.” Dr. Peterson replied: “There is nothing Christian about #socialjustice. Redemptive salvation is a matter of the individual soul.”

Pelicans became extremely popular in medieval art because they were seen as symbols of sacrifice, and were often used in Christian allegories. When the birds were unable to find food for their young, they would peck flesh from their own breast to nourish their babies. As a result, depictions of this process were often seen on liturgical crosses, church doorways, and altars.

In just two years’ time, BP’s Net Zero scenario sees oil demand 4 million barrels a day lower than it is now. That would mean removing the equivalent of Germany’s entire consumption in 2024 and repeating that feat again the following year.

Every oil forecast I’ve seen shows demand rising in 2023, and the few 2024 projections already published — including one from the US government — see growth continuing.--Blas

It's telling that many political discussions start with the disclaimer "The merits aside..." Trump discussions more than most.

Trump's current legal problems contain some severe implications. A small-time DA responsible to his local community can, without consequence, range nationally in his crusades. (The Pittsburgh city counsel once sanctioned Chile.) Posturing, attacking windmills, and aggressive symbolism has downsides in expense and focus. That has its own risks. But this behavior can start to resemble a Bill of Attainder that will carve out deep divides at a time when the idea of governments and its limits are under significant debate. These recent legal events will likely cause a concentration of support within his party but a reciprocal alienation of the rest of the nation.

Merits aside.
