Pros, girls with trainers, jogging Sikhs--is there anything more heterogeneous than a marathon? Some conditioned striders, some in groups, some very alone, some with advertisements, some injured, some with Boston's chip on their shoulders, some content walking, some exhausted and defeated, some performing for the benign and appreciative gauntlet of observers--all united by the thing that will eventually separate us all: Striving.
