There are two gospels today, the 32nd Sunday gospel and the anniversary of the dedication of the Lateran Basilica, the first church of Rome. The 32nd gospel is of the five bridesmaids who, on the return of the delayed bridegroom, do not share their oil with the other five. The moral of the gospel, with Christ as the returning bridegroom, is, classically, "Be Prepared! The Kingdom of God can come at any time."
But why is the bridegroom delayed? Have the plans changed? And why do the bridesmaids not share?
