Female Military Units

The Middle East Wars have generated some peculiar things; of course they have had a lot of time. A women's military unit has emerged in Iraq, the YPJ, a Christian woman's unit called a "Woman's Protection Unit. Women are also allowed in the Peshmerga, which means, “those who face death,” a  military arm of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and Iraqi Kurdistan. Their existence dates back to the mid-20th Century when Mustafa Barzani picked up arms to fight for Kurdistan autonomy. They have attracted, for some reason, women from the West who have joined them.
