Trump/Ferguson
One of the Virus mythologies is that Trump opposed the lockdowns and ignored the epidemiology models. But the federal government directly and explicitly adopted a policy based on Neil Ferguson’s Imperial College model on 3/16. And Trump specifically touted Ferguson’s model and spent most of the year explicitly citing its projections to claim credit for lives it supposedly saved.
The Trump critics are probably on the wrong side of this. The Ferguson model is nuts. And the adoption of his model allowed incredible assumption of power by the government at the expense of the citizen. They would have been much more effective had they criticized Trump for adopting the crazy Ferguson numbers but that would have required that they diminish the Virus' threat.
And the threat was more important than anything.
