A Pause in Integrity

According to the most recent test scores, 11.6 percent of the Pittsburgh school district's African American grade school students scored proficient in math compared to 47.5 percent of white students, and the district has long sought to close that gap and says it will now be taking this approach. Last week, the school board approved a $50,000 contract to the consulting group Quetzal Education to provide workshops for district math teachers to fully engage students of color in learning math and hopefully improve performance.

Harvard’s 'last-place free speech ranking' was boosted with a department’s decision last year to disinvite philosopher Devin Buckley after learning that she belonged to a feminist group that opposed incarcerating biological males in women’s prisons or allowing them on women’s sports teams. The English Department had invited Buckley to lecture on an unrelated topic, British Romanticism, but then canceled the invitation on the grounds that Buckley was “trans-exclusionary.”

A Pause in Integrity

The Biden position on the Israeli efforts to eliminate Hamas seems to be changing. Originally, his support was total; now he is talking "Pause."

H.A. Hellyer, a senior associate fellow at Britain’s Royal United Services Institute, said Israel was capable of destroying Hamas in its expected attack on the densely populated enclave.
“The question isn’t whether it’s possible or not. The question is what sort of price will be exacted on the rest of the population, because Hamas does not live on an island in the ocean or in a cave in the desert.”

So, the real question is how much collateral damage Israel is willing to allow in order to destroy their tormentors. While Israel has historically been remorseless, it appears that Biden is feeling the pressure of the demonstrators and the Left.

If it weren't so terrifying, this conflict would be interesting.
The Palestinians feel that the West has arbitrarily taken over their homeland to create Israel and they want their homeland back. Nonnegotiable.
The Israelis feel they have been returned to their ancient homeland and want to keep it. Nonnegotiable.
Israel is a nuclear power as is Palistine's supporter state.
At some point, this conflict will have to be resolved. But Biden will not take a stand here. Like the border, like the deficit, like education, the resolution will be half-measures of evolving paths of least resistance.

We are no longer in the hands of stupid, weak politicians. We are now in the hands of Time. God help us all.
