Question 49

Question 49

Putin continues to annoy China and Iran as he continues to give despotism a bad name.

The U.S. continues to follow the Obama Doctrine, leading from behind. After following Germany's aggressive conversion, they watch as Britain cuts off the Russian gas line.

Trump Possession on the Left continues as they try to turn the January outburst into a revolution. The committee has no authority to bring criminal charges so it may be just more theater. but it would be interesting to see loyalty arise as a factor in D.C.

Before the Second War, Japan was dependent on the U.S. for 80% of its energy imports. Energy causes wars. Nations usually don't turn their own sources off.

The new woke:
Shell said it’s selling a 27.5% stake in Sakhalin-II, an integrated oil and gas project located on the Sakhalin island in Russia, as well as a 50% interest in Salym Petroleum Development N.V., “a joint venture with Gazprom Neft that is developing the Salym fields in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous District of western Siberia.” The company also said it’s ending its involvement in the Nord Stream 2 pipeline project.
“We are shocked by the loss of life in Ukraine, which we deplore, resulting from a senseless act of military aggression which threatens European security,” Shell CEO Ben van Beurden said in a statement.

“Welcome to World War Wired — the first war in a totally interconnected world. This will be the Cossacks meet the World Wide Web. Like I said, you haven’t been here before.”
“The musician and actress Selena Gomez has twice as many followers on Instagram — over 298 million — as Russia has citizens. Yes, Vladimir, I can hear you laughing from here and echoing Stalin’s quip about the pope: ‘How many divisions does Selena Gomez have?’”
“I know, I know, Vladimir, you don’t care.”
-Thomas Friedman, “We Have Never Been Here Before,” New York Times

Durham says Sussmann falsely told the FBI that he was not presenting the Russian /Trump Slander on behalf of any client when, in fact, he was billing the Clinton campaign for his time. So, was that connection direct, or not?

From WSJ: Electric-vehicle startups and other green tech companies soared early last year. Now a wave of investigations, outside allegations, and growing investor skepticism have sent shares down 75% or more for many of them.
Last week, investigations by boards of directors into top executives at two electric-vehicle makers led to management changes. A short seller alleged that a startup lithium producer’s technology doesn’t work. And an agriculture-technology company’s shares fell further after it wrote off most of the value of a recent acquisition.
Many of the companies went public through special-purpose acquisition companies, or SPACs, an alternative to traditional initial public offerings that allows companies to make lofty business projections. Some of the deals generated frenzied buying by small investors who are eager to invest in companies they believe will help reduce carbon emissions and limit climate change.

Accumulated federal borrowing (“debt held by the public”) increased $3.0 trillion under eight years of George W. Bush, $8.1 trillion under eight years of Barack Obama, $7.2 trillion under four years of Donald Trump, and it will about $2.9 trillion under the first two years of Joe Biden. Federal debt now stands at almost $24 trillion—the same size as gross domestic product (GDP)—and it amounts to about $187,000 for every household in the nation. US Surgeon General Vivek Murthy recently discussed how “we” must “root out” misleading speech.
Is that a government view, that the 'we' in government has the job of identifying what 'misleading speech' is and deracinate it? Would that be the province of the Bureau of Truth?

Warning. Some may find very stupid content offensive. Former U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry warned in an interview this week about “massive emissions consequences” from a Russian war against Ukraine, which he also said would be a distraction from work on climate change. Nevertheless, he added, “I hope President Putin will help us to stay on track with respect to what we need to do for the climate.” Mr. Kerry told the BBC that he hopes Mr. Putin realizes Northern Russia is thawing, “and his infrastructure is at risk, and the people of Russia are at risk.” According to the WSJ, "... Mr. Kerry’s comments aren’t a gaffe. They reveal the Biden Administration’s obsession with climate, and with punishing fossil-fuel production, which has made the U.S. and Europe vulnerable to Mr. Putin’s energy blackmail. The climate lobby has made Mr. Putin more powerful."
