Question 48

Question 48

Biden said last night that Blacks are regularly prevented from voting in the U.S. and, when they did, their votes often weren't counted.
Which countries are less racist than the U.S. and where is it easier to vote? Wasn't Trump's accusation of vote suppression thrown out of court?

Nikole Hannah-Jones retweeted a post-Sunday claiming the “supremacy around the media coverage of [the war] isn’t even subtle” while sharing a clip of an Al Jazeera report citing the “prosperous middle class” in Ukraine who were desperately trying to board a train to escape the war-ravaged country.
“What if I told you Europe is not a continent by definition, but a geopolitical fiction to separate it from Asia and so the alarm about a European, or civilized, or First World nation being invaded is a dog whistle to tell us we should care because they are like us,” Hannah-Jones tweeted Sunday to her 671,000 followers.
Hannah-Jones, whose 1619 Project claims America and its institutions were founded on preserving slavery and white supremacy, then suggested the rampant media coverage of the war was directly linked to Ukrainians’ skin color.

The entire staff of former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder's taxpayer-funded office has quit as the long-time friend of Russian President Vladimir Putin resists growing pressure to cut his ties to the Kremlin following its invasion of Ukraine.

An opinion piece by Olga Rudenko in the NYT just before the mugging of Ukraine contains this, titled "Over his head":
"Russia, of course, has been waging a war in eastern Ukraine since 2014. But now the threat is total: Up to 190,000 Russian troops have amassed near Ukraine’s borders and in separatist regions, and an invasion, bringing devastation and disaster, could come at any time. It’s a gravely serious situation. And Mr. Zelensky, a comedian for most of his life, is in over his head.
When Mr. Zelensky took power in Ukraine in 2019, converting his TV fame into a stellar political career, no one knew what to expect. His opponents said he was so inexperienced, he was bound to be a disaster. His supporters thought that he would break away from the old ways and end corruption. His harshest critics claimed that Mr. Zelensky, a Russian-speaking man born in eastern Ukraine, would all but sell the country off to Russia. Others said he was an oligarch puppet."
It goes on...
NYT.

An article on CNN covering the environmental suit in front of the Supreme Court discussed how serious a blow shifting the environmental lawmaking to Congress away from the EPA would be to responding to the thesis of global warming. They never considered the reason for the suit, that our system does not allow unelected committees and bureaus to write law, that law writing is the sole responsibility of the legislature.

The Americans are negotiating with Iran. With Russia and China. Yes. We are negotiating with a partner in the Middle East murder-suicide pact with Russia and China. When the U.S. reps go to lunch, these guys must dissolve in laughter.

Former US Attorney General Bill Barr thinks former President Donald Trump “has shown he has neither the temperament nor persuasive powers” of a leader, according to excerpts of his forthcoming book obtained by The Washington Post.

From an interview with A.K. Rowling, whom they called "controversial:" “I wrote the Hermione/Ron relationship as a form of wish fulfillment. That’s how it was conceived, really,” the Harry Potter author said in the interview with Hermione Granger actress Emma Watson for Wonderland in 2014. “For reasons that have very little to do with literature and far more to do with me clinging to the plot as I first imagined it, Hermione ended up with Ron.” What’s more, Rowling went on to actually admit that Harry and Hermione should have been endgame.

Warning. Some may find very stupid content offensive. In the middle of its coverage of the Ukraine invasion, CNN has been running spot ads on a special they have on some guy named Alex Jones and the threat to democracy he poses.

I don't know how this got in here and can't get rid of it. It's a partial picture of a four-star general.

The Europeans are so dependent upon Russian oil that Biden has refused to include oil on the sanctions. He has, however, sanctioned American oil production.

In recent months messages have multiplied on social media claiming that France's first lady, formerly Brigitte Trogneux, is a trans woman whose name at birth was "Jean-Michel." Her family is taking legal action, including her three children.
