Sorcerer's Apprentices

Over 50% of those arrested at the Austin pro-Hamas demonstration were not students.

Sorcerer's Apprentices

There is risk in inviting Fani Willis or Alvin Bragg into the sausage factory. Distorted political thinking is not diluted by poor intellect, it is fragmented.

In 2010, President Obama directed the CIA to assassinate an American citizen in Yemen, Anwar al-Awlaki, although he had never been charged with (let alone convicted of) any crime. The agency successfully carried out that order a year later with a September 2011 drone strike.

Which is to say, an American was killed by his own government without due process.

On February 19, 1942, Executive Order 9066 was signed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The order led to the incarceration of 120,000 Japanese Americans during World War.

No indictment. No trial.

One can see how government abuse can arise--like the Trump FISA abuse or the Intel-supported Trump-Russia collusion lie--when the Republic's future is at stake and only the knowledgeable few know. The officials behind these acts were neither stupid nor malicious; they thought their decisions were correct and needed.

These are not easy decisions and the Supreme Court is hearing a rerun of the questions now. The results will be hard-earned. But one can see how dangerous the possible solutions to these difficulties can be when commandeered by the inept, like Fani and Alvin.

Quality always matters.
