Unknowing and Forgetting

400,000 migrants flown to US under Biden parole program ‘likely staying here forever.’ Flown here.
Roughly 80% of the parolees who arrived between January and August 2023 went to Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando and Tampa Bay, according to the data.
Meanwhile, there is a long line of migrants hoping to be accepted into the program, with 1.6 million applications awaiting approval, DHS said.

Unknowing and Forgetting

In the U.S. 2020 national election, a strange national campaign emerged.

The Democratic presidential campaign fabricated evidence that its Republican opponent and the eventual president-elect was a Russian agent, and the in-power party’s FBI legitimated that evidence in the eyes of the media so it would be widely reported and believed by the public.

To make sure it was believed, top intelligence officials of the outgoing administration went on cable television to call the new president a Russian mole and Vladimir Putin his case officer.

(This was all separate from the party in power's efforts to paint the Hunter Biden laptop as a Russian-developed disinformation project.)

The reaction was equally strange.

The unmasking of this slander had surprisingly little effect and has since been ignored. The offending party suffered no backlash in subsequent elections. A representative in the House who regularly promised new confirmatory evidence of the lie--which, of course, never materialized--is now the leading candidate for the California Senate seat.

This has unsettling implications for the success of self-governing political systems. And it has terrible implications for those democratic information sources.
